Virginia rules and programs

  • Appliance and refrigerant rules

    Partly

Virginia has no statewide ban on landfilling appliances, but its landfill rules require CFC and HCFC refrigerants and PCBs to be removed from white goods before they are placed on the working face.

  • Secured load law

    Yes

Vehicles must be built, maintained and loaded so contents cannot drop, sift, leak or escape. Trucks and trailers hauling gravel, sand, coal and similar loads must secure or cover them (pickups are exempt from that cover rule). Letting a load escape is a Class 1 misdemeanor under § 10.1-1424.
