7 sites in Hawaii are listed for appliances: 3 landfills, 3 transfer stations and 1 drop-off center. The most are in Kauai County (4), Hawaii County (2) and Honolulu County (1).
All post hours and 2 publish a fee, and 1 say they serve residents only. A site is listed when its own record names appliances. Limits and fees differ, so call before you load up.
Hawaii's solid waste rules have barred permitted disposal facilities from accepting white goods (metal appliances such as refrigerators, washers and dryers) since mid-1994. Ask your county about appliance recycling.
Appliances under 3 cubic feet are not counted as white goods. Federal rules also require refrigerant recovery before fridges, freezers and window AC units are disposed of.

Loads must be covered or loaded so nothing drops, blows or spills. Loads of loose paper, rubbish, empty cartons, dirt, sand or gravel must be fully covered by a net or tarp. A first violation is fined $250 to $500.
A second violation within a year brings a $500 to $750 fine plus a 5 to 10 working-day license or registration suspension; a third brings $750 to $1,000 and a 30-day suspension.
