    Massachusetts bans white goods (large appliances) from disposal at landfills and incinerators and from transfer for disposal at transfer stations, so they must be recycled.

    Federal rules also require refrigerant recovery before fridges, freezers and window AC units are disposed of.

    Vehicles must be built or loaded so nothing drops, sifts, leaks or escapes, and loads of sand, gravel, loam, dirt, stone, rubbish or debris must be fully and adequately covered. Fines run $50 to $200.
