Massachusetts has no industry-funded mattress program, but since November 1, 2022 mattresses are banned from disposal or incineration at solid waste facilities, so they cannot go in the trash. Ask your city or town how it collects mattresses.

Vehicles must be built or loaded so nothing drops, sifts, leaks or escapes, and loads of sand, gravel, loam, dirt, stone, rubbish or debris must be fully and adequately covered. Fines run $50 to $200.
