    Landfills may take no more than 12 whole tires (rims up to 24.5 inches) at one time from one person, and must store them apart so they can be recycled later. A $1 recycling fee applies to each new tire.

  • Secured load law

    Yes

    Driving with an unsecured load is illegal, and trash or garbage must be fully covered. Dirt, sand, gravel or scrap loads must be covered unless kept 6 inches below the sides. Minimum fines are $200, or $500 for a repeat within six years.

    It is an infraction if it creates a hazard, a class B misdemeanor if it leads to a crash, and a class A misdemeanor if the crash causes serious injury or death.
