Washington rules and programs

  • Scrap tire disposal rules

Discarded tires may be left only on property designated for tire disposal; dumping them elsewhere brings a civil penalty of $200 to $2,000. A $1 fee is charged on each new replacement tire sold.

  • Secured load law

    Yes

Loads must be built or fastened so nothing drops, sifts or leaks, and dirt, sand or gravel loads on paved roads must be covered unless 6 inches of freeboard is kept. An unsecured load is an infraction.

Failing to secure a load with criminal negligence is a misdemeanor if it damages someone's property and a gross misdemeanor if it causes substantial bodily harm.
