    Yes

Leftover latex or oil-based house paint, primer, stain and varnish can be dropped off free at 113 PaintCare sites in Maryland (running since April 2026), including retail stores and household hazardous waste sites. A PaintCare fee of $0.50–$2.25 per container is built into new paint.

Fee by size: $0.50 (over a half pint, under 1 gallon), $1.15 (1–2 gallons), $2.25 (over 2, up to 5 gallons). Bring paint in original labeled, lidded containers up to 5 gallons; every site accepts up to 5 gallons per visit, some more. No aerosols, thinners or solvents. 100+ gallons: free pickup.

  • Battery disposal rules

    Partly

Maryland's battery law covers nickel-cadmium and small sealed lead rechargeables: sellers must run a collection program, which The Battery Network operates statewide. Battery Council International lists no Maryland car battery law.

EPA advises returning car batteries to a battery retailer or household hazardous waste collection. EPA says alkaline batteries can usually go in household trash.
