5 sites in Tennessee are listed for household hazardous waste: 1 landfill, 1 transfer station, 2 drop-off centers and 1 HHW drop-off. The most are in Bradley County (1), Carter County (1) and Hamilton County (1).
All post hours; none publish a fee in our records yet. A site is listed when its own record names household hazardous waste. Limits and fees differ, so call before you load up.
Tennessee has no paint stewardship law, so there is no PaintCare network of free paint drop-off sites (PaintCare runs programs only in 12 states and DC). Ask your local household hazardous waste program what paint it takes.
EPA lists paint among household products that can contain hazardous ingredients and points people to local household hazardous waste collections instead of drains or, in some cases, the regular trash.

Tennessee landfills and incinerators may not accept lead-acid (car) batteries, and stores that sell them must accept used batteries as trade-ins. Stores may add a refundable core charge.
For household batteries, EPA says alkaline ones can usually go in the trash, but take rechargeable, lithium and button batteries to a battery drop-off or household hazardous waste site.
